The experience of flying across water on a Personal Watercraft (PWC) is amazing. Add some cool accessories and it’s out of this world. For any late summer adventures, we’ve put together a list of 15 essential personal watercraft accessories and 5 extras just for fun.
Use our guide to complete your PWC gear or (hey, dealers!) compile suggestions for add-ons in back end sales.
1. Life Jacket
The first thing to buy after acquiring your PWC. A good life jacket is key to safety and peace of mind. Check state and federal laws for flotation device requirements wherever you ride.
2. Dry Bag/Box
To bring extra stuff with you on the water, there are liquid resistant boxes that can be mounted on the back of a PWC. For a softer alternative, grab a dry bag that you can wear or strap down.
3. GPS/Navigation System
Don’t forget about NOT getting lost – pick up a marine-friendly GPS.
4. Boarding Ladder/Step
Not every model is easy to board. To skip the whole “flailing around until you get a leg over the seat” ordeal, attach a ladder or step.
5. Rear Deck Platform
Some models are a bit tight on space. Pick up an extended platform for more room.
6. Safety Kit
Many states require at least a fire extinguisher to be on board. Past that, there are kits available with extra safety tools so you’re always prepared.
7. Cover
When out of the water, your PWC is exposed to the elements during transit and storage. Pick up a cover to keep it in top shape.
8. Fenders
Docking collisions can cause some damage. Attachable fenders turn a crunch into a bounce and add an extra layer of protection.
9. Mirrors
A pair of side mirrors keeps you constantly aware of your surroundings to limit accidents and monitor your tow passengers. Your model may already have these but if not, there are attachable versions available.
10. Fuel Container
Extra fuel on hand is a must for a long day on the water. You’ll find a few fuel tank options out there, including mountable models.
11. Handle Grips
Uncomfortable handles can get pretty old. A pair of grips makes handles comfy and gives you good control over your craft.
12. Gunwale Footrests
Especially great for fishermen, these angled footrests are a comfortable and secure spot for your feet when fishing off the side of the craft.
13. Super Absorbent Towel
Don’t forget to bring a towel! It can get pretty damp out there, so a fast-drying absorbent towel is handy to keep around for when you want to dry off.
14. Inflatable Tube + Rope
If you have a PWC and no tube, then you may be doing it wrong. Endless varieties of tubes are available to spark some fun.
15. Rack with Rod Holders
Not only can this rack hold your extra stuff in the middle, but it also has space for 4 fishing rods.
16. Waterproof Speaker
Bring the beats with you with mountable or portable speakers.
17. Shark Decal
Your PWC can rule the water with this fierce decal. Look at the teeth!
18. Cooler
Riding waves is hard work, so you obviously need to keep your soda, water, and snacks cool.
19. Chill Shade/Bimini Top
Fair skin? Aversion to sun? Life of leisure? Pick up a chill shade and turn your PWC into a cabana.
20. Waterproof Phone Pouch
Because leaving your phone on land is obviously a safety issue…right?
